Turn Your Smartphone into A Projector.

Researchers at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) have developed a new 'light-bending silicon chip' which could help users give presentations that are projected on a conference room wall via your cell phone! The new chip eliminates the need of expensive and bulky lens used in traditional projectors. Ali Hajimiri and his team were able to bypass traditional optics by manipulating the coherence of light - a property that allows the researchers to "bend" the light waves on the surface of the chip without lenses or the use of any mechanical movement. “This chip uses a so-called integrated optical phased array (OPA) to project the image electronically with only a single laser diode as light source and no mechanically moving parts,” explained Ali Hajimiri, Thomas G. Myers professor of electrical engineering at Caltech. “By changing the relative timing of the waves, you can change the direction of the light beam,” Hajimiri added. ...

Nokia Android Phones

The Nokia X Android phones are here- the X, the X+ and the XL Posted On February 24, 2014 By Nikhil Pradhan The Nokia X Android phone is finally official. Today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop revealed three ‘X’ phones- the Nokia X, the Nokia X+ (4-in touchscreen with more RAM and storage on the X+) and the Nokia XL (5-in touchscreen, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera). This means that Android developers will be able to port their apps to these Nokia phones with ‘little effort’ (as Nokia claims). This also means that the phones will rely on Microsoft’s cloud apps and services instead of Google’s (so no Gmail, Chrome or Google Maps unless they’re specifically ported over). The phones will also support sideloading of apps and will come with Nokia’...
