IRCTC New User Interface, its wow with Updated features.


Indian railways 
trains, stations and services are rapidly transforming. 
India's old, rusty, gargantuan organisation dating back to the colonial times is turning slick and efficient. The latest is the revamp of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website.

Railway's online travel portal, www.irctc.co.in, has now launched beta version of its new user interface which has more user-friendly features and offers easier navigation.

Indian Railways says that e-ticketing constitutes about two-third of total reserved tickets and it was important to update the website to make it faster and more user-friendly. The new website is still in beta and the final roll-out will happen at a later date.


If you open the IRCTC website, you will be welcomed by the old page with a red icon ‘Try New Version of Website’ on top left. If you click on it, you will be redirected to the beta version of the new website. It is still in its trial phase for 15 days and Indian Railways will be accepting suggestions for changes and improvement. Here are some of the new features of the new IRCTC website.

Check seats without login
With the new interface of e-ticketing website, user can now enquire or search trains and check availability of seats without login also, thereby saving precious time of the users.



Change font size

The new website also allows users to change font size throughout the website for comfortable viewing experience.


Will enable easy and better planning
The new look and feel will have enhanced class-wise, train-wise, destination-wise, departure/arrival time wise and quota-wise filters for facilitating customer while planning their journeys.


New dashboard
Single-screen information about the train including the train number, train name, originating and destination station and distances between them, arrival and departure time and journey time has now been arranged.

New filters
There are new filters on ‘My Transactions’ where users can also view their booked tickets based on Journey Date, Booking Date, Upcoming Journey and completed journey.

Waitlist prediction
There is a new ‘Waitlist prediction’ feature through which users can get the probability of a Waitlisted or RAC ticket getting confirmed.

Modify SearchYou can modify search result even after searching train



New algorithm
The website uses a new algorithm to predict train bookings and hints users accordingly on the availability. This algorithm is based on historical booking trends of the particular train.

New colours scheme
There is a new colour scheme for different trains with facility to modify the journey details on the journey planner page itself to make it easy for people to book tickets.

Advance reservation period
The new website will provide the facility for users to find out the availability up to the entire Advance Reservation Period which is 120 days at present, except a few trains.

Perform multiple activities
In the new system, user can perform multiple activities through booked history with improved interface for cancellation of tickets, printing of tickets, request for additional SMS, selecting alternative train by exercising the option of ‘Vikalp’ and change of boarding point if required.

Seamless navigation
The website has been optimised for seamless navigation in mobiles, desktops, laptops and tablets.
